The Real Reason Why Carol Avoided The Kingdom For So Long…

Carol’s View Of The Kingdom

At first glance, it looked like Carol wanted to consider the Kingdom as impractical, similar as to how she viewed Alexandria at first. It appeared to be full of people who had survived, without ever having to really learn how to survive.

At a second glance, however, Carol was in a different place when she arrived at the Kingdom. Beyond being injured and seeing hallucinations, she was also looking for peace when she arrived at the Kingdom.

It’s likely that she felt unworthy of the Kingdom.

“There’s this colorful king and there is music and there are children laughing and running around and that’s really beautiful,” said actress Melissa McBride, who plays Carol on AMC’s version of the series.

“I don’t even think Carol thought she was even worthy of a place like that. Anyway, she had work to do on herself,” she confirmed.

This meant living alone outside of the Kingdom, but still somewhat protected and still near help if help were needed. In a way, Carol could live within danger, but still, have a place to visit if more healing were needed.

Last season, with Carol working on herself and feeling unworthy or unfit to live within the Kingdom, it’s unclear how she might act next season. She’s certainly welcome to live at the Kingdom, or Alexandria, or even at Hilltop.

Morgan will likely continue to live in the home away from home, outside of the Kingdom, but Carol will likely find a home inside the Kingdom’s wall. There’s also a chance there will be a romance with King Ezekiel.

Everyone wants for Carol to connect with Daryl, but it doesn’t look like that’s in the cards. The Carol on AMC seems to be following Michonne’s comic storyline, which means, eventually, romance with the King.

This could keep Carol in the Kingdom, but there’s also a chance she could shoot down the King and look for solitude somewhere like Oceanside.

Do you think Carol will ever settle down?
