The mid-season finale of The Walking Dead featured the deaths of two more characters at the hands of Negan: Spencer and Olivia. But there was another casualty earlier in the episode that’s also getting a lot of attention.
As Daryl made his escape from the Sanctuary, he was discovered by one of the Saviors, known as “Fat” Joey. Even though Joey pleaded for his life, vowing not to say anything, Daryl brutally killed him. It was clear from the the over-the-top beating Daryl gave Joey with a lead pipe that he was letting loose a lot of pent-up rage and frustration.
“Fat” Joey only appeared in a handful of scenes this season, but his name was mentioned a few times, even when he was off screen. His time on The Walking Dead may have been short-lived, but he seemed to have an important role to play for Negan and the Saviors.
