Rick Grimes Brawling History On The Walking Dead

Rick Grimes, The Man With The Iron Fists

On The Walking Dead, former Sheriff Rick Grimes has been in dozens of fistfights and near-death experiences on the series.

The first fight actually began in the second episode of the very first season.

In Season 1, Episode 2, Rick’s first fight was with Merle Dixon on a rooftop. It wasn’t much of a fight, but it needed to be done. Merle got knocked down and then Rick roughed him up and handcuffed him to a pipe.

A few episodes later, in Season 1, Episode 10, Rick fought with Shane and we really got a chance to see his vigor. This is a real fight, where Shane seems to have the upper hand, but then Rick takes him down.

Much later, and perhaps the most vicious so far, involves Rick in a fight with Tyreese, which takes place in Season 4, Episode 3 of the series. Rick takes several hits from a former football player-sized, knock around guy.

However, Rick Grimes easily gets up and knocks Tyreese down on the ground. Rick then continues to beat on Tyreese until Daryl breaks up the fight. Perhaps Tyreese wasn’t able to stand his ground due to emotional issues. But still.

The problem, among these fights, is that after all is said and done, Rick gets into a fight with the Governor and loses.

Two days after Rick Grimes got into a fight with Tyreese, he’s fighting the Governor, who attacks the prison, but it seems like the Governor effortlessly takes control of the fight and takes down Rick.

The only reason this makes any sense is that Rick had been having trouble sleeping and perhaps dealing with issues having to watch Hershel die in front of him. These are all things that shaped Rick Grimes.

Now, it’s unlikely that Rick could lose another fight, despite what’s happening in front of him. After all, he can even take out sword-ridden, steel-headed walkers.

Do you think the Governor could take Rick one-on-one?
