Powerful Women: Enid, Maggie and Sasha on The Walking Dead

Since Negan’s massacre, we’ve yet to see Maggie or Sasha until “Go Getters.” Last week on The Walking Dead, Enid and Carl made their way to Hilltop, only to separate outside of the gates.

In this episode, Enid jumped the fence and Maggie found her at the gravesite for Abraham and Glenn (we’re not sure how the bodies got there). Enid’s signature balloons from the previous week are floating on Abraham’s grave, but she thinks it’s Glenn’s grave, as neither are marked.

Katelyn Nacon on Playing Enid

Katelyn Nacon, who plays Enid on the show, spoke with Vanity Fair to discuss where these powerful women are headed in Season 7 of The Walking Dead.

“Enid doesn’t really let people into her life very easily,” confirms Nacon. “So when Glenn came along and introduced her to Maggie, it kind of reminded her — at least, this is how I think of it — it kind of reminded her of her parents. And so I think she kind of has that mother-daughter bond with Maggie. And so that strong connection is kind of what keeps her striving to protect her or help her out in any way possible.”

Nacon went on to discuss Enid’s possible thoughts on the loss of Glenn as a mentor. Enid is a natural at covering her emotions since her parents passed, but perhaps she’s going to be able to connect with Maggie in a way she wasn’t able to before.

Glenn’s Influence on Enid

“Maybe it’s fine to have a connection with people in this world. But right when that happened, that connection was taken away from her once more [when Glenn died]. And so it’s hard, because it’s just like she was brought back to when she was in the car [watching her parents die].”

With that in mind, it’s difficult to say whether Enid will open up or close herself off more. She seems to have both Carl Grimes and Maggie Yhee now.

“She wouldn’t want him to die and for her to forget everything that he taught her,” recalls the actress. “I know that she’s going to keep going for Maggie, and she’s going to keep helping her no matter what. So I definitely know that she won’t close off people that she already has in her life.”
