This New TWD Short Feature Clarifies Everything About The Loss Of Carl Grimes

The cast and crew of The Walking Dead recently came together to come out with a short featurette about the loss of Carl Grimes. “They want to set themselves up to build a community where life can go on,” said director Greg Nicotero.

But amidst the conversations with Andrew Lincoln, Denise Huth, and Lennie James, there are some new images for fans. “The fallout from the loss makes people do different things,” said Andrew Lincoln about the upcoming season.

That’s when we first see a few teases from storylines overlooked in Season 8A.

Carl Grimes Discovers He’s Been Bitten

In the first video, it’s clear that Morgan is on the floor trying to get away from gunfire. Ironically, this likely isn’t a new scene. Instead, it’s a missing scene we didn’t see the past eight episodes.

This should have been when Morgan was a sniper outside of the Sanctuary. On a proper linear timeline, this would have happened between Daryl crashing the truck into the building and Rick arriving with the Heapsters.

The other missing piece comes next when Carl Grimes looks in the mirror.

Many fans were confused by the mid-season finale of Season 8A since Carl Grimes never got near a walker in the final episode. This is because the actual bite happened in a previous episode when Carl met Saddiq.

In the woods, Carl wanted for Saddiq to come back with him. In an effort to honor the man, decided to work with to kill a few walkers. Normally, Carl wouldn’t have wasted his time on these walkers but he was making a new ally.

Unfortunately, this got him killed (most likely). In this scene, Carl discovered that he was bitten when he opened his shirt and looked in the mirror. We caught up with later when he was packing a bag and writing a letter to his dad.

Basically, if you rewatch the final episode, it’s clear that Carl knew he was dying the entire time. This makes every scene more powerful, especially the final scene with Negan.

Do you think there’s any way that Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) can survive this torso bite?
