Carl Grimes finds a mysterious man in the premiere of The Walking Dead. Not only is the man alone, but he seems to have lost it. He’s muttering something, but it doesn’t make sense and there’s no one else around.
“Hey, I’m okay. I mean, I’m not, but… I’ve been shot at. Someone threw a microwave at me. So I’m just gonna say something my mom used to say and hope for the best here. Whatever you have of good, spend on the traveler…”
In a way, this new characters starts to mimics Carl’s thoughts and actions.
Abbud / Saddiq The Mystery Character
“My mom said that helping the traveler, the person without a home, that’s everything,” said the voice. “I’m sure you’ve seen things, been through things, that you don’t trust people,” he added.
“I get it. I don’t either,” said the voice. As Carl Grimes starts to approach with his gun in the air, it’s clear this man will not cause any harm. Unfortunately, Rick Grimes arrives and scares him off.
Abbud, the new character, reveals how Rick and Carl are no longer alike.
Mystery Character Needs A Lot Of Help
The hungry character then quotes some Islamic religious text, which makes us believe he’s going to be a version of Siddiq from the comic book. According to casting calls, however, they’ve instead given him the name, Abbud.
In the comic, this character arrives after the time lapse and the war. Introducing him early could just be a glimpse, or he could become a major player. Since Carl Grimes heads back to give him two cans of food, it’s likely he’s going to stick around.
Despite the fact that his speech sounds like nonsense, its quite narrative of what is going on. Carl Grimes is there to help the traveler. He’s out of gas and looking for help himself when he finds someone who needs something he can offer.
Like Abbud reveals, both have been through things where they shouldn’t trust anyone else. For whatever reason though, Carl gives this man a chance. This is going to be the difference between Rick and Carl in the future.
Do you think Abbud is going to survive this season?
