The Punisher Comic Con Canceled
The worst mass shooting in American history is making everyone take more precautions. With that in mind, Netflix and Marvel have decided to cancel their panel on the hyper gun-violent The Punisher series.
Now, the new show stars former The Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal. Bernthal, who once played Shane Walsh is now Frank Castle, a.k.a The Punisher. The new series pairs with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron First, and The Defenders.
And, the event was canceled out of respect for the lives lost in Las Vegas.
The Punisher Stars Jon Bernthal
In the series, “A former U.S. military veteran, Castle uses his lethal skills and prowess with military-grade weapons to fight crime in New York City, earning him the name The Punisher.”
Years ago, there was also a film by the same name that starred Tom Jane. The film had mixed reviews, but many fans loved Tom Jane’s portrayal. Jon Bernthal’s version is likely to be a little rougher around the edges.
Overall, the story revolves around revenge.
The King Of The Cameo
Netflix sent out an official statement that read, “We are stunned and saddened by this week’s senseless act in Las Vegas. After careful consideration, Netflix and Marvel have decided it wouldn’t be appropriate for Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ to participate in New York Comic-Con. Our thoughts continue to be with the victims and those affected by this tragedy.”
The event was scheduled for the first week of October, so fans will likely be upset to hear this news. And, Marvel and The Walking Dead fans enjoy speaking with Jon Bernthal to learn what he is up to next.
Between The Walking Dead and The Punisher, Jon Bernthal has appeared in a series of movies. This summer, he had small roles in Baby Driver, Edgar Wright’s action-packed chase movie, and Wind River, a film likely to gain Oscar buzz.
In a way, Jon Bernthal has become the king of the cameo. Now, with The Punisher, he’s got a chance to lead the show.
So, are you looking forward to watching The Punisher on Netflix?
