For the most part, the Heapsters (also known as Scavengers) have been a mystery. However, in the latest episode of The Walking Dead, Jadis told the truth about their backstory and maybe even the helicopter. The truth is that they had to die for this to happen.
“Rick,” said Jadis in her half-talk. “The Saviors [did this]. Get out how you got in. These weren’t heaps before. It was just trash laid out as far as the eye can see. I used to come here to find things to paint on,” said Jadis in surprisingly full sentences.
Essentially, she confirmed that the group should be called the “Heapsters,” but she also proved there might be a normal person underneath her persona.
The Heapsters Come To An End On TWD
“Metal sheets and fabrics, then again, everything changed. I realized this whole place was a canvas but we were the paint,” said Jadis. “We could create something new. We could become something new. We did. This was our world, apart from everywhere else. Our world.”
After she told a little more about the Heapsters, Rick Grimes decided that without guns and men, the group was now useless. He and Michonne made shields but decided to leave Jadis with the living dead. Simon killed all of her people but they did come back as walkers.
She created a trap to eventually kill them all but there was one other unique moment while Simon was questioning Jadis.
Why Would A Junkyard Need A Helipad?
“Why the dump?” asked Simon. “I mean, there had to be a better place to call home. What’s the deal with the helipad in back? The solar panels? What was this place?” he finally asked her.
In some ways, this confirms a few things and challenges some other fan theories. First of all, the mention of a helipad makes us believe that Rick’s vision of a helicopter was real. In fact, it may have even belonged to the Heapsters.
But it’s unclear if Jadis was the pilot. If not, the pilot is likely dead. When she needed Rick Grimes the most, he decided to leave her for dead. Now fans are wondering if Jadis will become Alpha (the Whisperers) or what’s next for her.
In addition, the solar panels would also explain the electricity at the dump.
