It Looks Like This Character IS A Traitor…
Traitors Among Us
With Rick and Negan’s war on the rise, there are lots of characters that we may see switch sides. In “The Other Side,” Dr. Carson was forced to go to the Sanctuary, Gregory buddied up with Simon, Eugene didn’t escape, and there was also a mystery character at the end that will likely become a traitor.
Of all of these individuals, however, Eugene may be the most shocking.
At the end of the episode, he’s given a chance to leave and doesn’t take it. Sure, he decided not to let Negan’s sister-wives kill their husband, but that seemed like a smart decision.
Now, he just seems like a traitor in Rick’s war.
At the end of “The Other Side,” Eugene is speaking to a fellow Savior, describing how to best guard the fence. In an instant, while this new guard is bragging about how he’s better than the last guy (maybe Fat Joey), a single bullet kills a walker and the egotistical guard.
Eugene gets a big, stupid look on his fence and all of a sudden, he’s back to being the coward. He ducks down, in somewhat of a vertical fetal position, as Rosita makes her to the fence to “save him.”
“Eugene. Get up! We’re breaking you out,” said Rosita.
When Eugene realizes he’s not in any real danger, he seems to be okay, but then starts crying again. This time, he’s likely thinking about where his allegiance truly lies between Rick’s group and Negan’s Saviors…
Is Eugene Still Good Or Breaking Bad?
“No,” he finally said. “I’m not going with you. I didn’t ask you to come, so go!”
Thinking about his circumstances, he mumbles, “People got to be in or out.” Eugene’s going to be in until he’s forced out.
Perhaps this is still the smart play, but the way that Josh McDermitt plays the scene, there’s certainly hesitation within Eugene. Maybe he’s still one of the good guys, but overall, Eugene is out to save Eugene.
Do you think Eugene would knowingly put Rosita in harm’s way?
