Danai Gurira Signs On For Black Panther
Danai Gurira, who plays on Michonne on The Walking Dead, has just landed two major roles in the Marvel Universe. As Okoye in the Black Panther, she’s also set to star in the third installment of Marvel’s Avengers, which is Infinity War.
If Gurira follows Sonequa Martin-Green’s path, which meant taking on Star Trek: Discovery and leaving The Walking Dead, this could mean that many fans will see the last of Michonne in Season 8 of the series.
The question is: How will Rick cope with this loss?
Will Michonne Follow Andrea’s Path?
In Robert Kirkman’s comic book, Michonne follows Andrea’s storyline. In a recent issue, the war with Negan is over, but when a herd of walkers arrive, Andrea leads them away to save Eugene. In the process, she’s bitten.
The comic and television versions of the story are somewhat different, but many of the character’s paths eventually line up. Rick takes Andrea’s death very hard and it may change his story arc once again.
So far, there have only been a few comics since her major death.
How Might This Death Change Rick Grimes?
On the series, it’s hard to imagine how Rick Grimes may take the death of his new love. On one hand, it’s clear that Rick has come to terms with that fact that he will lose more soldiers in order to defeat Negan.
At the end of Season 7, moments before Shiva arrived, Rick Grimes thought that he had already lost Michonne and he was preparing to watch his son be killed. Luckily, the troops arrived just in time and Michonne managed to save herself.
If Michonne is taken from Rick, however, it could change his path. In the comic, Rick has been searching for peace, revealing that no more people will be killed in the Safe Zone, despite the costs.
If Michonne dies, however, this could change things once again.
Do you think Michonne will make it out of Season 8 alive?
