Steven Ogg Outshines Everyone On Walking Dead
Steven Ogg who plays Simon has stolen some scenes on The Walking Dead. As Negan’s right-hand man, he’s been similar to Negan, but slightly more charismatic if not fun, considering he’s not actually killing anyone on the show.
The actor behind Simon is actually the man behind Trevor in Grand Theft Auto. Trevor Phillips is the foul-mouthed, bank-robbing meth-chef on the popular video game and Ogg plays the role like a champ.
Ogg is iconic in nearly any role he steps into.
Steven Ogg Loves Small, Unique Rolls
Steven Ogg told Buzzfeed, “I have been so thrilled that the GTA fans have responded so positively to the performance. They have enjoyed his impulsive, psychopathic nature but have reveled in his humor.”
Other cameo appearances from Ogg include the recent Westword, Unforgettable, and Person Of Interest. Ogg has also been on skits on Broad City, plus a brief appearance on Better Call Saul.
There really is something about Ogg that makes him stand out in small roles.
Simon’s Qualities As A Villain
According to Forbes:
“Simon is a unique character because like Sasha and Beth and Daryl before him, he doesn’t exist in the comics. He’s a character that’s been created exclusively for the show, and frankly, Ogg is managing to create a better villain than what we’re seeing from the comic staples of Dwight and even Negan himself.”
“This was on full display last night during The Walking Dead’s latest episode “Go Getters,” named after a phrase Simon uses to describe Rick’s group, now that they’re working for Negan. As you might have heard, it was a pretty awful episode in many respects, but the one bright spot of the entire evening was Ogg’s performance as Simon, which was the most we’ve seen from the character so far as he bullies weakling Hilltop leader Gregory into literally bowing and scraping at his feet.”
