Norman Reedus Talks Daryl Dixon
The Walking Dead | Photo Credit AMC Before The Walking Dead, actor Norman Reedus who plays Daryl Dixon was essentially in dozens of dark movies that most audiences didn’t see. Other than The Boondock Saints, he made a career out of making dark, unnerving films.
Since The Walking Dead, however, other opportunities have been offered to the actor, but he’s turned most of them down if they interfered with the show. One he even had to turn down due to a haircut.
Reedus told Rolling Stone why he turned down a recent George Clooney movie.

“I just got offered a big one with George Clooney. But it came down to a point of, “Would I cut my hair really short for this role?” I’m on a show. I can’t cut all my hair off out of nowhere. This is my full-time job so I’m not going to do anything to jeopardize that.”
“But there are some good projects coming to me. You’ve just got to find a window to do them. I have a son who lives in New York and I don’t want to spend all my time away.”
More than likely, Reedus was offered the role in 2016 Money Monster, that later went to actor Jack O’Connell (’71, Unbroken).

Beyond the haircut, Norman Reedus only wants to spend time near his 13-year-old son. The first season of the show made his son nervous, but now he watches the show because he knows everyone loves his dad, Daryl Dixon.
“Second season, he kind of watched it through his fingers. Then third season, I went to go pick him up after school, and he had this big smile on his face. Some of the bigger kids at school said, “Is your dad Daryl Dixon?” And he’s like, “Yeah.” And they were like, “We f*cking love Daryl Dixon!”
