The Mysterious Time Jump On The Way
Generally speaking, fans aren’t crazy about a time jump. We’ve stuck with a set of characters through thick and thin, only to jump way ahead. That said, a time jump on The Walking Dead could balance out the linear storytelling we’ve seen before.
Season 7 was notoriously slow on The Walking Dead. In fact, some fans even left the show after seeing Glenn die and then no revenge plots in the works. Now, however, all of that is about to change.
But, then what will happen next?
The Slow Pace Of AMC’s The Walking Dead
In the comic book, the time jump happens to balance out the insane casualties from “All Out War.” On AMC’s version of the series, it could do the same thing. Most fans are currently unaware of how slow the show is actually moving along.
Beyond feeling slow, in TWD time, it’s only been a few weeks since Glenn died. This is why Maggie doesn’t look pregnant and also why our hero seems so weak. We’ve seen him under Negan’s thumb for nearly two years, but it’s only been a few weeks.
The time jump will change a great deal of things on the show.
Performing A Balancing Act On Television
Not only will a time jump balance out the various loose ends, but it will give the characters a chance to create something new. After all, the writers have already mentioned that the serious could last for twenty seasons in total.
In the comic, Maggie has her baby and Rick suffers an injury that results in a cane. Thanks to the Old Man Rick clip from the trailer, it’s clear that they will use some sort of leap into the future.
Beyond moving forward, a leap could also change the way the story is being told. We saw a little of this at the end of last season when Abraham made a cameo in the finale in the form of a flashback.
If the show starts to move forward and backward, that could even mean other cameos, such as a moment between Glenn and Maggie. Lori certainly came back after her death, so why not Glenn?
Do you look forward to the time jump on The Walking Dead?
