The Walking Dead Helicopter Is Not What You Think, But You Have To Look Twice

On the most recent episode of TWD, “Big Scary U,” Rick Grimes sees something he hasn’t seen since the beginning. While walking to meet Jadis and the Scavengers, a Walking Dead helicopter flies over his head.

Since Rick Grimes is alone, it’s possible that this is something in his mind. Based on the fact that he’s imagined things, like his dead wife and a dream about Glenn at the dinner table, there’s a chance it wasn’t real.

Real or fake, fans are losing it over this helicopter on The Walking Dead.

Seth Gilliam, who plays Father Gabriel, told Comic Book that the script merely said that Rick Grimes heard a helicopter. This could mean that the helicopter was real, based on the fact that they chose to show it.

Some fans think this could be a correction to Season 7’s airplane. While Rick Grimes was originally visiting the junkyard, there was a plane in the background. More than likely, this was an accident that production didn’t have control over.

Others believe that the helicopter means a new group is on the way.

In the comic books, there is a high-tech group called New World Order. This group appears far ahead in the comics, so it’s hard to imagine the series showing them so early. However, this wouldn’t be the first time they showed a new group earlier on TV than in the comics.

Other fans are hoping this is the first sign that there will be a crossover between Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead. Robert Kirkman made this announcement at Comic-Con, but didn’t indicate how it might happen.

We believe the crossover will actually happen on Fear the Walking Dead. Since the two shows are in the same universe, but at different points in time, a previous Walking Dead character may end up on Fear.

Still, other fans believe this could simply be a military helicopter. After all, the military should be alive somewhere. Perhaps this could even prove Sonequa Martin-Green’s conclusion that the virus is only in America.

What did you think about this twist on The Walking Dead?
