Everything You Need To Know About Rick Grimes’ New Enemy: New World Order

Robert Kirkman has just introduced his most interesting new characters in perhaps 30-40 issues. In fact, the new group is so intriguing, we believe there’s some evidence that the AMC version of The Walking Dead will skip ahead to introduce Rick Grimes’ new enemy.

For the purpose of this article, we’re going to touch on the aspects of the New World Order (also known as Commonwealth), that might affect the show. However, if you’re a comic book fan, make sure to stick to those ink pages for all of the finer details of this new group.

Essentially, the New World Order is a technical group capable of more than any other group we’ve seen in the past.

In the comic book, Michonne, Siddiq, and a handful of other characters we’ve yet to meet on AMC eventually meet the Commonwealth. Basically, this new group is a futuristic, storm trooper-type community that claims to be 50,000 strong.

The enormous group uses a method we’ve always wanted to see on television: a stadium. Inside a stadium, they would have access to land, restrooms, seats, sleeping locations, and kitchens. Plus, there would be time for fun knowing that the walls are protected by gates and limited entrances.

The good news is that Rick Grimes’ potential new enemy isn’t really an enemy at all. This could be a major shift for the comic and the series.

Rick Grimes and company is certainly not ready to fight off 50,000 people, but they’re likely not going to have to. Instead, the Commonwealth is going to be introduced in the way that Aaron eventually introduced himself. Someone will approach our characters and see if they are worthy of this new landscape.

Major spoilers lie ahead…

More importantly, there’s a wall in the comic book that essentially honors those lost or forgotten. Along this wall, Michonne finds a handwritten note that reads, “Have you seen my mom?” It’s quite possible that Michonne’s daughter Elodie is actually still alive and somewhere within the stadium.

The reason why we are talking about this already is that Rick Grimes just saw a helicopter flying overhead. Since no one else on the show has a helicopter (or the capabilities of flight), we believe this will be the New World Order.

What do you think of this new “enemy” on The Walking Dead? Did you know Robert Kirkman’s career began with a lie (read here)?
