In the Season 8 premiere of The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes shows up locked and loaded at Negan’s door. After some back-and-fourth banter, Rick reveals he’s had enough games with Negan.
“You lieutenants. You’re going to have to make up your minds,” he said, causing Gavin to second-guess his alliance to Negan. “This has to happen now. This is the only way,” said Rick Grimes.
“You’re going to make me count?” he asked with a smile. At this point, Rick Grimes has had enough of Negan and his people.
Rick Grimes Counts To Ten…
Rick Grimes smiles, which also makes Negan smile. At this point, again, it seems like Negan doesn’t believe Rick. Perhaps Negan (like the previous tenants of Alexandria), has gotten too comfortable behind his gates.
Essentially, Negan has been playing tee ball with Lucille, while Rick Grimes and company have been out in the world, fighting to survive. When Rick starts counting down from ten, it’s clear he’s lost all of his patience.
“Ten, nine, eight, seven…” then the bullets begin to fly.
Daryl Dixon Brings The Troops
Negan and his men run inside as quickly as they can. Above them, shattered glass falls from the sky like rain, due to Rick’s bullets. King Ezekiel and the others join in, turning the Sanctuary windows into Swiss cheese.
Members from Alexandria, Hilltop, and the Kingdom stand together to fight the Saviors. At this point, it’s unclear if the Saviors even get a shot off. From this perspective, it looks like Rick’s crew has the entire advantage.
The walls to Negan’s Sanctuary start to fall. From a distance, Daryl and the others hear the bullets flying. At this point, a few hundred walkers arrive as Daryl Dixon waits on his motorcycle.
“It’s better than letting things be,” reminds Daryl to Carol. As the walkers approach, he checks his revolver and then prepares to lead them to the Sanctuary. The second flank will be a herd of walkers to eat what’s left of the Saviors.
What do you think of Rick’s first plan of attack?
