Luckily, they’ve already filmed Season 8B and since they’re negotiating at all, we know that Maggie will survive the season. However, if they don’t come to some agreement soon, she could follow the unknown, uncertain fate of Heath.

According to reports, Lauren Cohan has received several offers this pilot season, which makes things even more complicated for negotiations.

The Hollywood Reporter writes, “Sources tell THR that Cohan and her agents are not happy with the offers that have been on the table from AMC. Although Cohan is not seeking salary parity with male leads Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus, her camp and AMC have been engaged in a long negotiation that remains far apart.”

This is unlike other rumors, like when Andrew Lincoln just hadn’t signed the contract yet. If things keep going down this road, it’s possible that fans could lose Maggie before her time on the show.

Since she’s still in the comic, losing Maggie could be another step in the wrong direction for the future of The Walking Dead.

More Major Changes For AMC’s The Walking Dead

The show is already going to take a huge shift from the comics with Carl Grimes pending death, so getting rid of Maggie would change things completely. This makes things even more complicated for the next few seasons of the show.

Depending on whether or not we see the Whisperers in the next eight episodes is also a major factor in the future of the show. If they skip the Whisperers, we could skip ahead to Commonwealth and AMC could catch up to the comic storyline.

If that drastic jump happens, Maggie may not be as necessary to the storyline, but we’d still hate to see her go. The real problem is that the show could go on without Lauren Cohan but that’s because they haven’t given Maggie enough to do.

More than likely, we’ll see more of Maggie this season but we have our fingers crossed AMC and her agents work things out soon.
