“Since Carl’s mom told him you gotta do what’s right, that’s definitely stayed with him. We can tell that because he’s constantly been trying to do what’s right and honor [Lori] the way that Saddiq is honoring his parents,” said Chandler Riggs on Talking Dead.

In season 8 of The Walking Dead, Carl Grimes decided to help Saddiq, but this apparently got him bit by a walker. With that in mind, it’s debatable to say that Lori’s last message eventually got her son killed.

After all, whenever someone is “too good” on the show, they die. Unfortunately, this was the fate for Chandler Riggs character.

Over the years, every character that has decided to become the “moral compass” of the show has been killed. This began with Dale (RV owner) back in the early seasons and also happened with Tyreese (Sasha’s brother).

On The Walking Dead, the characters are constantly going back and forth on what to do with prisoners, new people, and even the walkers. This is true for Rick Grimes, Carol Peletier, and Carl Grimes, just like everyone else.

Not long ago, Carl Grimes was trying to shoot Negan. Then, he changed his mind and tried to save a stranger. Now, he’s on his deathbed.

Lori’s Final Words May Have Killed Her Son

As the boy’s mother, Lori was doing everything in power to help her son, Carl Grimes. But in the end, she wasn’t the type of person able to survive on her own and she also made mistakes when it comes to Shane Walsh.

In her last moments, she wanted for her son to do what’s right, but she was teaching the boy a rule from the old world. In this new world, right and wrong are much more blurry and sometimes good and bad can even change roles.

Over the years, Carl Grimes has honored his mother by not getting a haircut (she was the last person to cut his hair). But, when he took that a step further, he made a mistake which cost him his life.

“You gotta do what’s right, baby. Promise me you’ll always do what’s right,” said Lori Grimes. “It’s so easy to do the wrong thing in this world. You’re so good. My sweet boy,” she said.

Do you think Carl Grimes should have been more careful like Rick Grimes?
