“Watching Gimple fire my son 2 weeks before his 18th birthday after telling him they wanted him for the next 3 years was disappointing,” William Riggs wrote. “I never trusted Gimple or AMC but Chandler did,” he said about son Chandler Riggs.

“I know how much it hurt him. But we do absolutely know how lucky we have been to be a part of it all and appreciate all the love from fans all these years!” he wrote after the midseason premiere ended.

Like William Riggs, we’re all surprised to see Chandler Riggs leave the iconic series.

Overall, the Riggs family enjoyed their time on the series and this isn’t the end for Carl Grimes on the show. When the second half of the season gears up in February, we’re going to see a few more scenes between Carl Grimes and Rick Grimes.

In addition, the actor will still be touring with the cast and doing comic-cons. William Riggs wrote, “I hope the show keeps doing well! I plan to keep doing tours monthly. I actually cut back on tours only because I teach high school full-time.”

There’s also the possibility of a flashback or tribute later in the series, such as that with Lori Grimes or Abraham Ford. In fact, Chandler joked about the possibility.

Actor Trolls His Character’s Death

A few days after the midseason finale, Chandler Riggs got on social media and made fun of the fact he was leaving the show. “Don’t worry guys,” wrote the actor. “I’ll be in the 2nd half of the season. In a white dress on a bridge.”

The joke is a direct reference to Sarah Wayne Callie’s return after Lori’s death. Since her character died giving birth, every time she appeared afterward was just in the mind of Rick Grimes.

After all of the controversy on Facebook and various other social media sites, it’s good to see some humor from Chandler Riggs. With everyone so upset by the twist ending, this gives a little perspective about the series.

When the show returns, we’re going to catch up with Rick Grimes and see how he deals with the pending death of his son.

Do you think Carl Grimes would ever die on the show?
