A lot happened in the most recent episode of The Walking Dead, but most of “Say Yes” followed around Rick and Michonne as they went out looking for guns, foods, and more supplies to prepare for battle.

Something unique about their time together is how different they are now that they are in a relationship. They were technically together in the first eight episodes but Rick was too busy following Negan’s orders to spend time with Michonne.

In the second half of Season 7, Rick and Michonne are actually playful.

“She’s So Badass,” Said Lincoln

At the fairgrounds within the high school fence, Rick and Michonne basically joke with each other about killing walkers. Rick tells her she can easily handle eight roamers while he sets up an obstacle to block off the rest.

“She’s so badass,” said Andrew Lincoln, on Talking Dead. “It was like a smorgasbord of the coolest kills she’s ever done. She’s kabobbing three on one and then there’s Ricky Dicky Grimes trying to pull one out of a windshield.”

Lincoln joked, “I think anything at Rick’s expense is funny.”

After a few jokes, the real comedy came when Rick was struggling with the walker in the windshield. Michonne does easily take out eight walkers while Rick is trying to pull one disintegrating walker from the windshield.

This episode was more Shaun of the Dead than Dawn of the Dead. Except for when they’re facing a real enemy like Negan, Rick’s gang is way better and way more capable at handling themselves despite the many walkers who still roam.

Rick and Michonne take out a few dozen walkers at the state fair by strategically moving through the various natural obstacles. This is, of course, after they took out a few hundred walkers back in the dynamite highway scene.

As the two grow more comfortable together, we’ll likely see more playfulness in the near future.
