“It reminded me of other moments in Rick’s history where he is able to go that extra yard,” said Andrew Lincoln about his character. The actor is likely referring to Rick biting Joe’s throat or the time he killed Pete in the streets of Alexandria.

“He’s one of these people willing to gouge or bite—it’s anything goes for Rick. I think that’s one the most tenacious qualities about him. He just won’t let it go,” added the actor about his character.

On the most recent episode of The Walking Dead, this vengeance is mainly due to Rick trying to grieve over the death of his son.

During “The Key,” Rick Grimes is actually more frightening than Negan. “I think that’s where some of the humor comes from in the episode. Negan is like, ‘What is wrong with you? You maniac.’”

“I think I have a line that is, ‘This is where you die in the dark, alone.’ And he just goes, ‘What the f**k is wrong with you, Rick.’ Jeffrey just said, ‘You are more Negan than Negan right now.’ It was almost like a balancing of the scales.”

The actor concluded, “This guy is really demented because of the death of his son. I like that energy between the two guys, that kind of Batman and the Joker.” But, it’s somewhat unclear who is good and evil in the scenario above.

Clearly, Rick Grimes is the white hat when compared to Negan but sometimes he takes things too far. Plus, there’s also a chance that Negan will start to be a better character on the show and possibly even a good guy.

It’s unclear where Jadis is taking Negan (many fans think she will use him as a trade-off somehow), but it’s clear Rick Grimes will kill Negan. However, even Maggie is showing us the link between good and bad is quite thin.

We all know Maggie. We know she shares the virtues of Glenn and Hershel. But she’s having to make tough decisions and she’s dealing with real pain. Before Georgie arrived, Maggie was actually looking a little bit like Negan or perhaps the Governor.

After all, the Governor only became “the Governor” because he had been hurt and got tired of seeing his people get hurt. Maggie is in that same boat. Hopefully, Georgie’s key will guide her in the right direction.

As for Rick Grimes, he may be too far gone.
