Ready For More Young Sheldon Characters To Arrive On The Big Bang Theory?

It’s no secret that The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon are connected. After the success of the original series, creator Chuck Lorre and star Jim Parsons decided a spinoff could work. Now, fans are dying to see more connections between the two.

There is a 30-year time gap between the two shows. A crossover like the one on New Girl and Brooklyn 99 isn’t possible, but reference characters have already crossed over. The obvious ones include Sheldon’s family, like his mom, sister, and Meemaw, the grandmother.

“We are all in love with young Billy Sparks, so if he walked into Pasadena it would be a thrill,” said Chuck Lorre. “That would be something.”

Billy Sparks (Wyatt McClure) was mentioned in Season 3 “The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary” on The Big Bang Theory. So, it’s possible that he could walk into the Cheesecake Factory or the comic book shop. This would be a treat for fans who watch both shows every week.

The real shocker would be bringing Georgie, Sheldon’s brother, onto the hit series. Chuck Lorre said his dream casting job would be Matthew McConaughey (True Detective, Interstellar). This would be for the role of adult Georgie (Montana Jordan on Young Sheldon).

This will likely depend on McConaughey’s schedule (or taste) where he’s done Lincoln commercials, but ironically turned down Marvel and DC films.

Our Favorite Young Sheldon Crossovers So Far

So far, our favorite crossovers have been Sheldon’s mom and grandmother. Annie Potts (Ghostbusters, Designing Women) played Meemaw on Young Sheldon and June Squibb (Nebraska, About Schmidt) played the character on The Big Bang Theory.

As for Sheldon Cooper’s mom, the relationship is even closer to home. Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne) is Sheldon’s mom on The Big Bang Theory, and her real-life daughter, Zoe Perry (Private Practice) plays Sheldon’s mom on Young Sheldon.

This is essentially the role that Perry has been searching for her whole life. And, she already has all of her mother’s ticks and features in the bag, so the other aspects of the role are simple for her.

So, what’s your favorite crossover between the two hit shows on CBS?
