The Big Bang Theory: Why NOW Is The Chance For Penny To Revive Her Acting Career

One of our favorite reoccurring jokes from The Big Bang Theory revolves around Penny’s acting career. So far, she’s been on NCIS, a low-budget horror flick called Serial Ape-ist, and of course, Serial Ape-ist 2: Monkey See, Monkey Kill.

Beyond these small roles, Penny spent the first eight years on the series as a waitress at the Cheesecake Factory. It wasn’t until “The Locomotion Interruption” that she decided to put her acting career on hold to take a job as a pharmaceutical rep at Bernadette’s office.

But, will she ever return to her true passion?

In Season 11, we don’t see much of Penny’s life outside of the apartment. While the camera always follows the boys at work, Penny seems to be a shut-in these days. In fact, we even see Amy’s office (and Bernadette’s on bed rest), but nothing about Penny’s job.

Based on her actions so far, there are two options for Penny. Since all of her friends are either getting married or having children, she too may want to consider children. In fact, actress Kaley Cuoco has hinted at this possibility.

But, there’s also the chance that she decides to start acting once again.

Since there’s a chance that The Big Bang Theory will end in two years, we’re assuming the writers will want to have all of the characters on progressive tracks. While everyone is doing “okay,” we want to see more of these characters.

Amy and Sheldon are getting married, Howard and Bernadette are having a second child, and Raj Koothrappali is looking for love. Despite seeming content, we want to see more out of Leonard and Penny.

In Season 11, Penny has been an advice-giver on the show and even made friends with her mother-in-law. Unless she decides to go back to school, there’s always a chance a big acting gig could come her way.

Penny has changed a great deal on the show, so she may have more life experience to bring to her acting. In fact, she could even turn her career around and land a major gig that could change her and Leonard’s life for the future. Or, she could land a small role on the Professor Proton reboot.

Do you think Penny will ever give acting a second chance?
