DC Comics To Release New Film For This ‘Super Hero’ Featured On TBBT

Over the years, The Big Bang Theory crew has continued to bash on DC’s iconic character, Aquaman. On the latest episode, Sheldon Cooper wants to give the series a shot, but the others question his choice.

“Why are you reading Aquaman?” asked Leonard Hofstadter in the comic book shop. “I want to be able to say I was reading it before it was cool,” said Sheldon Cooper, about the comic book that is about to become a hit film.

Leonard simply told Sheldon that idea was “dumb.”

Since Warner Brothers owns The Big Bang Theory and DC Comics, there are lots of DC references on the show. In fact, there are no Marvel posters or comics in Stuart’s shop, which is a real, weekly updated comic shop.

Likewise, in Leonard’s apartment, there is a Superman poster on the wall in the kitchen but no Marvel references. For those unfamiliar with the two chains, DC owns the Justice League, which includes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman.

The Justice League just hit theaters, but Aquaman is still being filmed.

What We Know About The New Aquaman

DC Comics will release the lord of the sea in his first solo venture sometime in 2018 with Aquaman. The first photo shows Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) with lots of tattoos and his staff.

The character made a cameo in Zack Snyder’s film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with a slightly larger role in Justice League. In the new film, Furious 7 director James Wan will be behind the camera.

The new movie will follow Arthur Curry (Momoa) as he is forced to reconcile his loyalties between the surface world and those within the depths of the sea. Those who live in the undersea Atlantis are hostile towards humans for pollution.

“I think James Wan just killed it,” said actor Jason Momoa. Either way, we know that Leonard, Sheldon, Raj, and Howard will all be in line on opening day. And, Sheldon will be slightly more informed having read the comics before they were cool.

Are you looking forward to seeing Aquaman next year?
