This article is a continuation of another article focused on the relationship of Raj and Emily. Since, Emily is really the only person who has the most intimate relationship with Raj, it is likely that he could end up with her by the end of the series. Unless, the show decides to introduce a new love interest for Raj. Looking at their history on the show, the fans can make a decision for themselves. Do you think Raj should end up with Emily?
Emily reappears in season 8 in the episode, “The Hook-up Reverberation.” Penny meets Emily for the first time, but doesn’t really warm up to her. Bernadette suggests that Penny stop by Emily’s office to do her sales pitch in front of a real doctor. Penny does her pitch enthusiastically, but, Emily ignores her. She doesn’t like that Penny had crawled into bed with Raj in a previous episode, when Raj was intoxicated. Raj gets the two ladies together and they apologize to each other. After they part, both women say how much they hate the other one.
In “The Prom Equivalency”, Emily accompanies Raj to a prom themed dance put together by Amy and Bernadette. The two arrive in a couple’s limo. Bernadette tells Emily that she likes her Sally (“Nightmare before Christmas”) tattoo. Emily explains that she likes Sally because she has lots of scars and her limbs had to be sewn back on. She also tells Bernadette that in the original Cinderella story, (Bernadette’s favorite fairy tale) that the evil step-sisters cut off their toes to fit into Cinderella’s glass slipper. Emily then tells Raj that she is having a great time.
The next episode with Emily is “The Colonization Application.” Raj decides to snoop around Emily’s apartment when she is not there and breaks her bed bureau. Emily is obviously not happy, but forgives him anyway. She also tells him it’s a good thing that he didn’t look in her closet, causing Raj to wonder what’s in it. Yeah, really, what’s in it?
Then there is a decline with the Raj/Emily dynamic in “The Commitment Determination.” Raj confides in Howard and Bernadette about the differences between Emily and himself. He is also considering breaking up with her. Howard doesn’t believe that he will break up with a girl that has sex with him. Of course, it’s Walowitz!
At a graveyard picnic (romantic!), Emily picks up on some tension and tells Raj that he has to do the breaking up because she won’t. Instead, Raj tells her that he was just trying to say that the loves her and kisses her. He does not know her reaction.
Raj really pulls a jerk move in “The Valentino Submergence.” Raj breaks up with Emily so he can ask Claire out. However, Claire has gotten back together with her old boyfriend. Raj goes running back to Emily, but she doesn’t take him back. What goes around comes around! Raj ponders over their relationship over several episodes.
It is obvious from the way the relationship cuts off, that Raj regrets his actions. However, it was still a horrible thing to do to Emily. Yes, she’s eccentric, but she was a good partner to Raj. Perhaps, they will get back together. Emily just has to make him sweat for a while.
