When The Big Bang Theory got started over a decade ago, the assumption was that most of the characters were in their late 20s. In reality, the actors on the show are all over the place in terms of age, with Kaley Cuoco being the youngest.
Currently, Kaley Cuoco (Penny) is 32-years-old in real life. Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) is 37 years old. Finally, Mayim Bialik (Amy Farrah Fowler) is 42-years old and tied for the second oldest of the regular cast.
Surprisingly, the oldest actor on the show is Jim Parsons (So far, the oldest reoccurring actor to appear on the show is Bob Newhart at 88 years old.)
The Big Bang Theory Ages, Oldest To Youngest
Jim Parsons (Sheldon) is 44 years old. Behind Parsons, Johnny Galecki (Leonard) is 42 years old. Then Simon Helberg (Howard) is 37 while Kunal Nayyar is the youngest man at 36 years old.
The characters aren’t too drastically apart from their real-life counterparts. Leonard and Sheldon are supposed to be around 36, while Penny is supposed to be around 30 or 31 at this point.
Stuart Bloom is a little older at 42 and actor Kevin Sussman is 47 years old.
How Jim Parsons Keeps Looking So Young
The biggest surprise for most fans is that Jim Parsons is 44 years old. Most fans of the show would guess that Jim Parsons is much younger than 44, but the 6-foot tall actor has a regiment to stay looking young.
Jim Parsons only weighs around 140-pounds. He’s a regular at the gym. The actor enjoys hitting the daily spin class and he can perform eight “solid” reps at the bench with 50-pound dumbbells.
When he’s not cycling or lifting dumbbells, Parsons will all do some more strenuous workouts. In one photo, he’s seen pushing a 725-pound weight sled that also has his trainer on top of it.
“I don’t really do much very good in the gym,” Parsons told Men’s Health. “But for some reason I have this workman like aspect of me, I suppose, that can push heavy weight. That’s not that heavy for everybody, but for me, that’s very heavy.”
