TBBT Writers Just Did THIS ‘Bernadette’ Trick That Fans Didn’t Notice

The writers on The Big Bang Theory are phenomenal for several reasons. Not only have they kept the jokes coming for over a decade now, but they’ve also been great at working with the actors and their real-life situations.

Not too long ago, Penny Hofstadter-actress Kaley Cuoco broke her leg while riding a horse. Not only did the writers toss in a horse reference with one of her commercial jobs, but they also hid her behind counters so no one knew this happened.

Now, they’re doing the same thing for Bernadette actress Melissa Rauch.

When Melissa Rauch announced she was pregnant, the writers of The Big Bang Theory had to head back to the drawing board. It’s unclear what plans they initially had for Season 11, but now they needed to write in a pregnancy.

The reason Bernadette and Howard had a second child so quick is because Melissa Rauch got pregnant in real life. Now, around ten episodes in, they’re also using another clever trick to hide her real experiences.

In the most recent episode, we only see Bernadette via Skype.

It’s unclear exactly what’s going on, but Melissa Rauch was likely preparing to have the baby in real life during the filming of this episode. Better yet, they even decided to include a quick Howard cameo on the Skype call.

Last week, Melissa Rauch had her first child, Sadie. It’s possible we’re going to see one or two more episodes without Bernadette due to the previous filming schedule. It’s unclear if she’ll be wearing a “pregnant belly” for the rest of the season.

Depending on whether the writers decide to have the baby in 2017 or 2018 will depend on when she gets to go back to normal on television. It’s also likely that she may consider a brief hiatus to be with her firstborn.

In real life, actress Melissa Rauch had been struggling with a miscarriage. Now, she’s an advocate for all mothers in similar positions. Above all else, she’s thrilled that there were no complications with the birth of Sadie.
