In October, five UCLA freshman went to visit the set of The Big Bang Theory. The TBBT cast and crew showed the students around as the kids got to thank their Hollywood benefactors for their scholarship to the university.
The students celebrated with the infamous UCLA eight-clap. These are the most recent recipients of The Big Bang Theory Scholarship Endowment. These students are preparing to celebrate degrees in science, technology, mathematics, and engineering.
Neuroscientist and alumna Mayim Bialik celebrated with the gang.
TBBT Cast Celebrates UCLA Scholars
UCLA identifies the scholars as: “They are Darren Ait Kaci Azzou, a biophysics major; Janice Cheng, a bioengineering major; Steve Lopez, a mechanical engineering major; Andy Muratalla, a chemical engineering major; and Khang Vinh, a computer science, and engineering major.”
Janice Cheng said she likes the concept of the television show because she didn’t get to see much science and math on TV as a kid. “It’s nice to see it being represented on television,” confirmed Cheng.
The scholarships help those who need financial aid. “I chose UCLA because of the scholarship,” said Ait Kaci Azzou. Basically, this is just one the many ways the show is celebrating science for young people.
Professor Proton Celebrates Young Scientists
As the series enters Season 11, TBBT cast prepares to continue encouraging others to pursue science. In the latest episode, the story even focuses on a replacement for Professor Proton.
First, Bob Newhart made the role of Professor Proton famous, but the character of Arthur Jefferies has since passed on. Regardless, Bob Newhart still makes appearances as Sheldon’s personal Obi-Wan Kenobi, with minor appearances on Young Sheldon.
While auditioning for the role of the Professor Proton reboot, Sheldon discovered that the important thing is that the show pushes science on children. Likewise, that is what TBBT cast is doing for these UCLA students.
Donations come from the various actors, including Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, and Melissa Rauch. Other scholarships were created from Bill Prady and Steven Molaro.
So, what do you think of this donation from TBBT cast?
