Besides the fact that all of the guys on The Big Bang Theory love comics and science, there’s actually something every character has in common. For Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, Howard, Penny, Amy and Bernadette, they all have daddy issues.
For the girls, Penny’s dad always wanted her to be a boy. Because of this, she was raised like a boy. In addition, Bernadette’s dad is a retired cop who wasn’t there for her childhood and now he drinks a little too much.
With Amy, her father has never really been mentioned on the show. As for the boys, there are really too many reasons to count.
Sheldon Cooper, Boy Without A Father
When Sheldon Cooper was just a teenager, his father passed away. As we’re learning from Young Sheldon, he wasn’t always there for Sheldon before that either. In reality, his dad wished he was less smart of more of a man’s man.
Due to this, Sheldon Cooper never really got the chance to have a childhood. Not only did he have several problems socially, but his father wasn’t able to connect with him either.
Then, there’s Leonard, Raj, and Howard.
Complications With The Other Characters
For Leonard, his father wasn’t around unless he was conducting experiments on the boy to compare him to a 2,000-year-old skeleton of an Etruscan boy. Likewise, he also has lots of problems with his mother, but those are getting a little better.
With Raj, the real problem is that he is still being babied. Through most of the series, Raj Koothrappali actually still gets an allowance from his father. In addition, like Richie Rich, he struggles to get along with others because of his odd childhood.
Finally, there’s Howard Wolowitz. Among everyone on the show, Howard’s father is the only one who completely left him. Now, he’s unsure of himself as a man and he’s even unsure of how he will turn out as a father to a son.
When Howard was only 11 years old, his father left him with his mother. This changed their relationship and stunted his relationships for the future.
