Stuart BloomStuart’s life is the same lying on the floor here or at his apartment by bigbangtheory.wikia.com

The Big Bang Theory features a group of friends who are loyal and love one another in their own way. But where there is a clique, there always is a dark side. Someone always gets left out. In this case, it is Stuart. The guys complain about being bullied in high school, but are they unconsciously inflicting the same behavior they swore off? Would we consider Raj, Howard, Leonard, and Sheldon to be the bullies?

What is a Bully?

According to Google, bullying is “using superior strength or influence to intimidate, typically to get him or her to do what one wants.” While our guys clearly do not use superior strength to intimidate Stuart, they have significant influence over him.

The Last Resort

Essentially, Sheldon, Raj, Leonard, and Howard use Stuart as a last resort. Stuart is the bench-warmer. If someone is missing from the gang, they call Stuart to keep an even number for splitting food or to have even teams. They never talk about Stuart. Whenever they greet Stuart it is always, “Oh . . . hey, Stuart.” Not “Hey Stuart!”

We even see Sheldon hire Stuart to stand in for him in his daily duties to Amy. Sheldon views Stuart as less than him and his time is less valuable. But there may be hope yet.

We do see Sheldon apologize to Stuart, however…

Future of Stuart

We do see Sheldon apologize to Stuart when the lonely man is invited to dinner. It is quite possible that Sheldon did not realize he was doing anything wrong to Stuart because he is socially inept. But he has begun to appear more on the show. Unfortunately, his appearances have left the audience with the impression of him as a leech. However, as he contributes to the Wolowitz household, we can hope that he may become more accepted in the nerd circle.

Why Stuart?

stuart bloomStuart is a successful business man with as much to offer as Leonard, Raj, Sheldon, or Howard by thetake.com

Why do we want Stuart to succeed? I believe that it’s because The Big Bang Theory shows a lot of people succeeding where others have failed. While his depressed, thrown-aside role can be comical, ultimately the audience wants to see him win. I think the best happy ending for Stuart would be for him to ironically marry a hot, rich woman to be his sugar momma.
