There are definitely a lot of interesting events happening on The Big Bang Theory right now. Penny is signing autographs at a comic convention. Leonard is a love guru. Bernadette test drives a minivan. But the most amazing has to be Sheldon replacing his signature superhero t-shirts with a starched button-down, and getting tipsy on mimosas during brunch.

Penny and Leonard

Poor Penny got her hopes up about the convention, but is put up at a pathetic booth with a folding chair. Sadly, that message indicates her performance was pathetic. Most “fans” remind her the movie was absolutely awful. Others share their appreciation of her shower scene. The good news? Everyone agrees Penny is smokin’ hot.

When nerdy Nolan asks for a kiss from his favorite worst actress, Leonard is obviously and rightfully not cool with it. Nolan presses Penny for confirmation that Leonard is indeed married to her, and fellow nerds flock to Leonard in awe once the truth is known.

Leonard entertains his subjects with stories of him finally wearing down the babe who lived across the hall. He amuses them with his various marriage proposals and the one that finally landed the beautiful (but bad) actress. He delights them with the small detail that his hot wife makes more money than him – which I’m sure will pop up in more episodes to come.

Howard, Raj, and Bernadette

While Leonard campaigns for King of the Nerds, Howard freaks out that the baby will eventually make his or her way into this world. After Howard freaks out over a baby kick, Howard and Raj buy a minivan without consulting Bernadette, a definite no-no when you’re married. Since her attitude is a little frosty, Howard tries to win Bernadette over to the “mother side” by demonstrating the special features of this award-winning vehicle.

While demonstrating a feature that opens the trunk with just the kick of a foot, Howard manages to throw out his back and get a trip to the emergency room.

Meanwhile, Amy has convinced Sheldon to have a party now that they’re living together. The Sheldon we all know and love puts on a normal shirt and slacks and cooks brunch as a surprise for Amy. Don’t get me wrong, I love that Sheldon is trying so hard to make Amy happy. I love how much he has grown. But, I find it a little hard to believe that the extremely awkward Sheldon is able to do this so easily.

Sheldon decides they need a dry run brunch before inviting their friends over. His guests include Stuart, a guy named Bert from the geology lab, and the Romanian lady downstairs who’s learning English by watching television. The odd crew watch Sheldon try to open a bottle of champagne for 15 minutes.

Sheldon sticks his foot in his mouth, revealing Stuart and the other guests are on the “trial team”. Stuart’s feelings are hurt, so he decides to leave. Zeroing in on social cues, Sheldon recognizes the awkward moment and consoles his friend with kind words and a loving toast. Then they kill a pitcher of mimosas.

Conclusion

While I found Sheldon to be a little off, I think it was still an enjoyable episode, if a little bland. Also, does anyone else feel like Raj is taking a back seat this season? What did you think of the “Fetal Kick Catalyst”? Tell us in the comments below.
