Sadie Robertson’s eating disorder made headlines earlier this year when the Duck Dynasty star admitted to unhealthy thought patterns on her Live Original blog. Now the Robertson daughter has released a new song with Christian band Anthem Lights. The song is entitled Just Be You, and fans are pointing out that Sadie might be giving her old self-advice.

Sadie Robertson’s eating disorder went unnoticed by the public. Sadie admitted she didn’t even tell her mother, Korie Robertson, about her struggles until recently. The Duck Dynasty daughter, who is known for her strong faith and positive attitude, found herself swept up by Hollywood while filming Dancing With The Stars. The pressure of looking perfect, and the fear of being noticed, got to Sadie. Now she’s making music to try and spare her fans from the same anxieties.

Sadie wrote, “I struggled with an eating problem connected to a negative body image for about a year. It was dark. It was ugly…” She added, “It was done in secret. It was hidden. I did not even tell my own mother until recently. I thought I had everything under control.”

Her honest account tells of her struggle with body image issues. However, she ultimately found comfort in the Bible and her faith. Now Sadie feels more beautiful than ever and wants to share that feeling with other girls. She said, “Stop trying to find the perfect lighting, and focus instead on finding the beauty in your heart. …When we spend time intentionally covering our hearts in beauty, it will flow out of us naturally if we allow it to and if we keep it in the dark. Check your heart before you check the mirror – that is where your true beauty lies.”

Sadie also recently released a new song with Anthem Lights, a Christian musical group who tours with Live Original. The song is called Just Be You and seems to stem from Sadie’s experience with body image issues and anxiety. The young star wrote, “When we set down to talk about writing this song we decided we really just want to create a song that you girls can sing over yourself in the morning and throughout the day as a reminder that YOU truly are a one of a kind! YOU have a purpose….So set aside fear and start to do the things that God has called you to and created inside of you!”

We are so glad Sadie Robertson’s eating disorder didn’t get the best of her. We’re also impressed that she’s using her experiences and her faith to speak encouragement to her fans. Will you be downloading Anthem Light’s new song, Just Be You?
