Korie Robertson recently admitted she told her kids they were “sucking the life” out of her. Why did the Duck Dynasty mom feel the need to share what she calls, “not my proudest mom moment”? She’s here to teach us all a little something about parenthood.

Korie and Willie’s daughter, Sadie Robertson, recently started a blog for her Live Original website. The young star has been sharing her own dark moments, but also sharing the wealth and inviting guest bloggers to write. Her mom was one of those guest bloggers last week, and she talked about a serious parenting moment.

Korie wrote, “I told our kids their negativity was sucking the life out of me. On a Sunday…on the way home from church. It wasn’t my proudest moment.” Korie explained that Rowdy, who she didn’t name, but called “the newest family member” has “a propensity for negativity.” Korie felt that his negativity was bringing herself and the family down, and she couldn’t get him to realize that he usually ends up enjoying whatever he didn’t want to do.

Korie tries to help Rowdy re-wire his brain by thinking positively. She even mentioned finding the “silver lining” in most things.

Korie also recalled a time in her life when she needed to find the silver lining. Willie had told her her negativity was getting to him, so she decided to remind him of the positive things in their own life. Korie says, “This wasn’t natural at first, it was intentional. Even if I didn’t feel like it, even when I was tired, I did it. And I promise you, it changed things. It changed me. I was a happier person.”

Think Positively

Korie encouraged her readers and fans to think positively. She believes positive thoughts are contagious, and that they can not only protect you, but also, your family and relationships. “Maybe we all need to hear sometimes that the way we act isn’t just hurting us, it’s affecting our relationships with the ones we love,” Korie says. “If it doesn’t help to tell you to change it for you, change it for those around you. You don’t want to suck the life out of the people you love the most.”
