Remember when A&E suspended Phil Robertson after he voiced his beliefs in GQ? Ever wonder what he did with all that extra time?

Many people don’t realize what Phil Robertson was doing during his suspension from A&E (source: Life 88.5) Phil’s finally speaking.

During that time off, Phil was dealing with something much more pressing, according to The Wrap.

Mike Kellett, senior pastor of White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ in West Monroe, La., vouches for Phil. He said he wasn’t just wasting time, sitting on the couch in sweatpants, eating only potato chips. No, he was making a difference.

Kellett said Phil was praying for a church member with cancer.

“Phil led us in prayer,” Kellett said. “There were greater things on our minds than the firestorm of controversy about this article.”

Kellett also supported what we now know — Phil wasn’t too flustered by the suspension or the negative feedback from the public.

“He’s very calm, and very confident that if he serves the Lord, God will take care of everything,” Kellett said.

If you’re not yet familiar with Phil’s comments, he basically expressed his views on homosexuality after GQ asked him to. Then they published it, some people went crazy.

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there,” Phil said. “Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

He helps the poor. He loves people.

Kelleytt said Phil, an elder at the church, gives people spiritual counsel, he preaches and holds Bible Studies.

“He has literally helped bring hundreds of people to the Lord,” Kellett said.

So even though Phil’s suspension looked bad from the outside, you never know what’s happening behind closed doors.
