The Emmys are coming, the Emmys are coming! Okay, lame opening joke is over. But in all seriousness, The Emmys will be tonight – Sunday, September 18th. While doing some research on the Big Bang Theory and cruising the message boards, a lot of fans are very excited about the ceremony. In fact, a lot of fans are very keen on Mayim Bialik finally winning an Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. Which she totally deserves. Bialik is absolutely hysterical as Amy Farrah Fowler.

Unfortunately…

Guests

The Big Bang Theory pretty much got snubbed this year. The show has no nominations in any major category. Bob Newhart got a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Arthur. However, he lost to Peter Scolari who played Tad Horvath in Girls. Christine Baranski and Laurie Metcalf each got a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for their portrayals of Dr. Beverly Hofstadter and Mary. But they lost to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler when they co-hosted Saturday Night Live. While I can understand that one, I feel like SNL should be in the variety show category.

What We Do Have

However, fans can take comfort in a few other things. The show has already been announced as the winner of the Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series award. This award was for season nine’s “The Opening Night Excitation.” Big Bang Theory is also in the running for three more technical awards.

These nominations are for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (half hour or less). The episodes up for this honor are “The Positive Negative Reaction,” “The Big Bear Precipitation,” and “The Fermentation Bifurcation.” The second nomination is for Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, and Video Control for a series. The episode that brought this on is “The Celebration Experimentation.” Finally, the last nomination is for Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera series. The episode that was deemed worthy is “The Convergence Convergence.”

Conclusion

Whew! Even if they did get snubbed, that was a bunch to type! Sorry, to all you guys out there that were rooting for Mayim. I’m right there with you. Also sorry, for anyone who wanted to see Jim and Johnny snag one again. But what about Simon and Kunal? They are just as funny as the other two. Have they ever been nominated? Can someone let me know in the comments?

With the tenth season being rumored to be the last, it is quite possible that the show may snag some awards next year. Once a show ends, that’s it. But voters might get sentimental.  Should we kidnap the voters?!?  (just kidding!)

Of course, they are plenty of other great comedy shows nominated this year. If you’re a fan the shows, tune in to the Emmy Awards tonight!
