Willie Robertson is truly a class act. The father of six made a seriously gracious gesture at his adoptive daughter’s wedding. Here’s how he honored Rebecca Robertson’s birth father.
Rebecca Robertson Joins The Family
Rebecca Robertson was married last year to John Reed Loflin during a destination wedding in Mexico. The entire Robertson family headed south of the border to celebrate the affair.
Rebecca is an “honorary” member of the family, according to A&E. She is not officially adopted, though the entire family thinks of her as one of their own. Rebecca came to live with Willie and Korie during her junior year of high school, through a foreign exchange program in Taiwan. Korie remembered, “
Now she came to us when she was 16 as an exchange student from Taiwan, did not speak a word of English. I thought, ‘Oh, no, I’ve got like four little kids, like 2 to 6 and now I’ve got a 16-year-old that doesn’t speak English; what am I gonna do? But we survived that first year and just fell in love with her and invited her back for her senior year.” Korie added, “She came her senior year, and it was somewhere in there that we just realized, I remember telling’ somebody that I had four kids and one of my little ones said, ‘No, you don’t; you have five.’ And Rebecca just became one of ours.”
Willie Robertson’s Gesture
The Robertsons love to celebrate family, and Rebecca’s wedding was no exception. Though Willie Robertson thinks of Rebecca as his daughter, he realizes that she still has a mother in Taiwan and a father who passed away when she was only 11.
Rebecca’s birth mother attended the Mexico wedding. The Robertson family welcomed her with open arms. Since Rebecca’s birth father has passed, and couldn’t be there, Willie Robertson decided to honor him. Korie shared, “”She just got married in December and Willie walked her down the aisle and was able to wear her dad’s tie as he walked her down the aisle, so that was a really, really special moment.”
Talk about a sweetheart. Willie Robertson surely loves his daughters and showed great sensitivity with this extraordinary gesture.
