The Duck Dynasty cast members have capitalized on their fame and fortune. Many of the Robertsons have gone on to create their own side businesses, including books.
Their many life experiences, fierce faith, and interesting perspective, make for great writing material. Here are four Duck Dynasty books to give to your loved ones this holiday season.
Young and Beardless
Young and Beardless:The Search for God, Purpose, and a Meaningful Life is written by John Luke Robertson. John Luke is the son of Willie and Korie Robertson. He is only 19-years-old, recently married, and currently attending Liberty University.
John Luke summarized the book by saying, “The title of my book is Young and Beardless for two very good reasons: I am young, and I am beardless. All that really means is I’m still learning and growing and figuring out my life’s purpose.” The book is filled with funny and wild stories about growing up as a Robertson, and provides an insightful look into coming of age.
John Luke isn’t the only Robertson child to write a book. Sadie Robertson wrote Live Original: How the Duck Commander Teen Keeps It Real and Sticks To Her Values, at the ripe age of 17.
In the book, Sadie discusses growing up as a Robertson, but focuses on the challenges teens face as they come of age. Sadie offers tips for living a God-centered life. Most interesting are her controversial comments on purity. Sadie has three rules for staying sexually pure before marriage. Sadie managed to use her book as a launch pad for success, and now tours the country speaking to teenagers about living an authentic lifestyle.
The Good The Bad and the Grace Of God
Jep Robertson is the baby of the four Robertson brothers. He and his wife Jessica wrote a tell-all book entitled The Good, The Bad, and The Grace of God. Many were shocked to read about scandal after scandal inside this page-turner.
Jessica writes of a relationship with an older youth minister — Jep writes of being molested as a child. Both admit to rocky pasts with alcohol and partying. On a lighter note, Jessica also writes of how competitive Jep can be at board games. The book details their parenting styles, early childhoods, and relationship struggles.
A New Season
Speaking of scandal; the real juicy stuff can be found in Al and Lisa Robertson’s book, A New Season: A Robertson Family Love Story of Brokenness and Redemption. Alan is the oldest brother in the Robertson family.
Deemed “the beardless brother,” he spent the first few years of Duck Dynasty success behind the cameras. However, he and his wife stepped into the spotlight when they wrote this book detailing their affairs and marital struggles. Both Alan and Lisa partook in adultery, and Lisa even writes of her painful abortion. This book is definitely the most controversial of all of the Robertson books — it’s also the most authentic and wildly honest.
Pick up and one of these Duck Dynasty books, or a few. You’ll learn more about the Robertson family, their early days, lifetime struggles, faith and family values are all on display in these memoirs.
