The Walking Dead | Photo Credit AMC Rick’s War with the Saviors is on the rise with AMC’s 100th episode on the way. For fans that have stuck with the series, 100 episodes is a major milestones. Most sitcoms get there in five seasons, but it’s more difficult for longer dramas.

Of those 100 episodes, we’ve seen major character deaths, gruesome kills, entrancing love stories, and some amazing television villains. Everything is set up for an exciting Season 8 in October.

According to Andrew Lincoln, it may be the greatest season yet.

The lead actor promises that Season 8’s premiere will be “one of the greatest episodes we’ve ever attempted. I’m more excited about this season than ever and this is not…blowing smoke.”

Lincoln then spoke about the major achievement to simply film 100 episodes of any series. “It’s a huge milestone,” said the actor. “It will be a big deal because there’s a lot of the crew and a few of the cast left that have trudged all of those hard and sweaty and bloody miles together.”

The Walking Dead is perhaps one of the more grueling shows on television.

Every episode is filmed in the Georgia heat, where it can feel like well over 100 degrees in the summer. Then, the characters are forced to be covered in sticky fake blood, dirt, and sweat.

In addition to the heat, shows like The Walking Dead require long hours. Nearly every series takes 12-hour days, but some shows will take 16-20 hour days to get each and every shot.

Think about a scene like the one with Rick and Aaron in the boat that is sinking on screen. A shot like that may take the entire day, where Andrew Lincoln and Ross Marquand are forced to battle over and over again.

The cast has certainly earned their pay, and we’re all excited for the Season 8 return.
