4Duck Dynasty and the Robertsons have been through a lot: multiple hiatuses, controversy, struggling to get good ratings. But they’ve made it through the valleys.

And it’s a good thing they did. Because Season 11 promises to be the mountain of all seasons. But, over the past five to six years, there are three instances that stand out as near show-killers…

Phil’s GQ interview

Phil told GQ about his views on homosexuality. People didn’t agree. A&E suspended Phil, which threatened the life of the show.

This led to the family doing something they had never done before the family almost decides to leave.

There were a few times the family seriously considered ceasing the show, according to E! News. One of those times was shortly after the GQ article.

“They’re an extremely tight-knit family and they’re not going to let this get in the way,” E! News‘ source said. “[Phil] is the reason for their success — they’re not going to abandon him. They’re also not about to let anyone threaten their religious beliefs.”

They stayed loyal to Phil through it all. Fortunately, they also stayed loyal to Duck Dynasty.
