Ever wondered what it would be like to hang out with the cast of The Big Bang Theory for an hour? Well, an entire audience of people got to do just that at Paleyfest this year. Here are 10 things we learned about the show from this year’s panel.
10 Things We Learned About The Big Bang Theory
Every year, the Big Bang Theory cast appears in some capacity at the Paley festival. Paleyfest is a festival held in Los Angeles that gives fans access to some of their favorite actors, media personnel, writers, and producers from the best television shows out there. This year an entire panel from Big Bang showed up. This included Chuck Lorre, Steve Holland, Bill Prady, Steven Molaro, Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons, Johny Galecki, and Kunal Nayyar. Fans learned a ton about the show, including what goes on backstage and what might come in the future.
1) They Were All In Shock To Meet Stephen Hawking
The first thing we learned about The Big Bang Theory at Paleyfest was that nearly every person on set was in shock and awe when meeting Stephen Hawking. The scientist appeared on the show for the first time during The Hawking Excitation. He even watched a taping that included Simon Helberg doing an impression of him. Chuck Lorre recalled that Stephen had a huge smile on his face the entire time.
Jim Parsons described the experience a little differently. He said, “It was frightening. That’s the smartest person you’re ever going to meet…We pretend to be these types of people all the time. I don’t know it was a true honor. But it was in retrospect, since his passing, that I look back even more able to say Jesus Christ, what an honor it was to get to work with him…I was just trying to leave the room fast enough before I say something stupid…”
2) Kaley Remembers The First Time She Met Johnny Galecki
The second thing we learned during the Paleyfest panel was that Kaley remembers the first time she met Johnny Galecki. It’s hard to imagine a time before Penny and Leonard’s love. Kaley recalled, “I remember when Johnny and I were doing the first few episodes, this was so many years ago, and he had an iPhone. And I was like ‘hey you got one of those iPhones?'” It’s crazy to think that this whole show started before smartphones were the norm. Kaley said she even commented that it looked hard to type on and she told him “I’m not getting one of those crazy phones!”
