In our modern world of manscaping, first-world problems, and a general snowflake mentality, it’s nice to see someone understands what it’s like to still look up to icons like John Wayne and Steve McQueen.

There’s a reason why Mike Rowe’s Dirty Jobs was such a hit in the years before Duck Dynasty hit the air. Some Americans know how to take pride in their work, whether that means shoveling manure or climbing under a house.
The boys at Duck Dynasty took pride in their work, despite the dirtiness.

Phil Robertson reminded his family that “A real man don’t call the plumbers. If he gonna call himself a man, he needs to know how to fix it, on the spot.” Again, our tech-centered, call-for-help world is turning men into mice.

While Phil reminds us what it takes to be a man, sometimes Si lets us know that we also need to cut back and relax once in a while. In this situation, Si was referring to just how hot it was outside.

Phil brought up the government shutdown and then said, “We can finally get back to the government let down.” The idealistic farm boy understands the need for the people to stay up-to-date on current affairs with the government.
”I think our problem is a spiritual one…”
Much like the government shutdown, the other problems with America often come from a lack of spiritual healing. “Where there is no Jesus, evil always reigns,” said Phil to the family.
