The Robertsons have welcomed famed pretty well. But Uncle Si warns against the dangers of stardom.
Source: Wildfowl Now, a lot of good has come from Duck Dynasty’s success. Sales for the Robertsons’ companies Duck Commander and Buck Commander have skyrocketed. Willie, Jase, and Phil are using their fame to speak at churches and Christian events, spreading the Good News. Korie and Miss Kay have written books seeking to encourage people. Jase and Missy’s Mia Moo Fund has gotten some great exposure.
But “crazy” Uncle Si warns about the potential negatives that come with living the celebrity life.
“A lot of people can’t handle it,” Uncle Si says about fame.
He then went on to explain that it would’ve been really bad news if he had gotten famous as a younger man. It’s better that he’s well-known now as a great uncle.
“God knew what he was doing,” he said. “Because if he had gave me this fame when I was 25, I wouldn’t have been worth two cents. He gave it to me in my later years, so it was easy to handle it.”
That makes sense. He’s now less prone to get caught up with girls and do some not-so-Biblical things. He would’ve been more prone to a big ego and arrogance. God knew what He was doing…
Uncle Si has learned this wisdom from experience — not his experience, but others’.

He gave the example of the time his uncle and some extended relatives struck oil. They became millionaires. But he said, “they were just country boys and they didn’t know how to handle it.”
“And it literally ruined [mu uncle’s] life and eventually killed him,” he said.
