Tanya Tucker, the Top New Female Vocalist from 1972, is recovering in a Nashville hospital after coming down with an upper respiratory infection. This happened in the middle of her North American tour.

The illness hit the 58-year-old country singer, who had a birthday on October 10, right before a concert in South Dakota. Local doctors treated her before sending her back to Nashville to be hospitalized. Because of this, six of her shows will be postponed.

“I cannot apologize enough to all the fans who bought tickets and were looking forward to seeing us on the road,” Tucker said in a press release.

“Just feel terrible, but I’ll get even worse if I don’t take care of myself. I love you all.”

Even though she hasn’t released any music for a while — the last being a cameo on Willie Nelson’s “Willie Nelson and Friends” — she’s still staying current.

In light of her illness, her fans are more than supportive. Nevertheless, here are some replies to her Facebook post above.

“Happy Birthday My Country Twin,” says Kathy Goodwin. “We were born the same date and year – I will always remember the year we shared it together – I might have just been dipping beans down by the tent most of the day but it was still very special being able to celebrate our shared date with you – God Bless.”

“My sister and I ran down a dirt road to see you perform,” says Bon Bb. “The lineup of cars to enter the Havelock jamboree was too slow for us we could hear you being introduced to start playing we pulled the car over left it there grabbed our stuff as we did not want to miss you and amazing show adore you always cheers girl hope you had a fantastic birthday.”

“Happy Birthday,” says Debbie Tierney. “Still love your music and my husband and [I] named our first daughter after you in 1978 and went on to have 8 more babies[.] Just love to watch you perform and hope you are blessed to sing for many more years to come!”

“I am sure people will and should understand the importance of you getting healthy,” Rosalie W. Thon says on Tucker’s Facebook page. “There is no need to run yourself down for anyone….take good care and get better soon…. that way you will be back sooner and back on the road… taking care of health is a #1 priority… over anything.. even a good night of fantastic music.. with Tanya Tucker….all the best to you.. speedy recovery . and come back soon.”

Clearly, fans love Tucker and hope she gets well soon. Here’s to hoping that pneumonia finally leaves her!
