In an Instagram video posted April 3, she tells her fans the bad news. She starts the video with, “So I just wanted to share with y’all what’s been on my heart lately.” Usually, that means she’s about to drop some wise words to encourage people.
Not this time. This time, she broke the news to her fans.
She says “life is crazy right now” — Duck Dynasty just aired its last episode of its last season, her tour with Winter Jam just ended, and she’s been putting out YouTube videos that are basically her giving a sermon. She just felt like she needed a break.
“I Just kind of feel like I need to take a step away from social media,” she says.
Not many people of the courage to stop posting on social media, especially with a following like hers…
- 2.8 million Instagram followers
- 1.8 million Twitter followers
- Nearly 580K Facebook likes
- More than 122K YouTube subscribers
But she’s going to do it — she’s going to cut herself off.

“I just need to get away,” she says. “And just really focus on my life and just invest in my friendships and invest in my family and invest in my relationship with the Lord.”
She says her friend will be running her social media accounts while she’s away. She plans to be away for “at least a couple months, hopefully.”
“Planning to be back on my birthday,” she captioned the photo. Her birthday is June 11.
