Both Barcelona and Real Madrid are successful clubs. They win titles, they have great players and a huge fan base around the world.

But there is a difference between these two. They have a different way of doing things in football. Barcelona prefers to depend on young players, and the academy. On the other hand, Real Madrid likes to buy super-stars known as the galacticos.

Besides this, they also treat players differently. Eto was refused because of his skin color, and Ronaldinho because he was ugly.

Both of them were signed by Barcelona, and became world-class players. On top of that, they were tearing apart R. Madrid every chance they got.

The number one problem with big names is their ego. They don’t want to be told what to do, and that is a huge problem. If they want to win, they need to work as a team.

Barcelona has a different way of treating super-stars. They treat them like family, as long as they respect the club and keep it professional.

Ronaldinho was more than welcomed in Barcelona. He was loved by the fans, and by the players. But did you know he was close to signing for Real Madrid?

Too ugly to join the royal club

“An associate of Florentino Perez, high up at Real Madrid, told El Pais that there was no point buying Ronaldinho because he was ‘so ugly that he’d sink you as a brand’.”- Source.

Perez had two options; Beckham or Ronaldinho. He picked Beckham, and the Brazilian joined Barcelona instead.

Beckham was a great player, but he couldn’t be compared with Ronaldinho. The Brazilian had it all. Dribbling, scoring, assisting and showing off his skills when needed.

But to put it simply, Dinho won a golden ball award and Beckham didn’t.

Barcelona was going after an extraordinary player, not a model. Madrid, on the other hand, was looking for players who could contribute to the brand. The above video shows who made the right decision.

But we all know that in addition to being a world-class player, Ronaldinho is a world class person as well. He always played with a smile, and that’s why people loved him.

He didn’t take the comments from R. Madrid seriously, and he moved on. He even commented on the rumor that Neymar will join R. Madrid.

“Neymar to Madrid? I want him to be happy, he’s a friend.”

“I would love him to continue at [Barcelona] and keep making history, but I’m not going to advise him to stay or go, he should just follow his heart.”

“In happiness there is advice, because what is good for one is not always good for another.” – Ronaldinho.

It’s great to see that Dinho is happy seeing Neymar doing what he did a few years back. But it’s also great to see that he didn’t use the opportunity to say a few bad words about the bitter rival.
