Rising to the Occasion

Photo Credit: eheadlines.com President Trump gave his first Easter address to the nation last Thursday and it no doubt left more than a few liberals utterly speechless.

He didn’t ramble on about the White House Easter egg roll or talk about spending time with family. Better still, he didn’t bash Christians and Jews, instead, he celebrated them.

Trump spoke fondly of Passover and the great feast. He also expressed America’s support for Israel and Jewish people in his epic address saying:

“Down through the centuries, the Jewish people have lived through one persecution after another – and yet, they persevered and thrived and uplifted the world beyond measure,” the president said. ” And now, the state of Israel stands as a monument to their faith and endurance.”

The president also acknowledged Christians in his address and celebrated the true meaning of the Easter holiday:

“This Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Christ and the promise of eternal salvation,” he said. “It is a holy day of reverence and worship; it is a sacred time that fills the spirit of our nation with the faith of our people.”

President Trump also expressed his concerns over the plight of Christians around the world, including those who were savagely murdered by…

Trump specifically referenced the Palm Sunday bombings in Egypt that killed 45 Coptic Christians and injured hundreds of others. He noted the importance of Christians being able to “practice their religion freely,” without fear of persecution or death. His address was a far cry from the one Obama gave in 2015.

As Conservative Tribune pointed out, Obama made headlines for what many considered to be an anti-Christian message:

“On Easter, I do reflect on the fact that, as a Christian, I am supposed to love, and I have to say that sometimes when I listen to less-than-loving expressions by Christians, I get concerned, but that’s a topic for another day…”

President Trump concluded his Easter address by reassuring those watching that he will continue to fight for all Americans so that they may enjoy peace and safety, and the ability to live and work “with the dignity that all children of God are entitled to know.”
