“There are seasons in every country when noise and impudence pass current for worth; and in popular commotions especially, the clamors of interested and factious men are often mistaken for patriotism.” -Alexander Hamilton

#BoycottHamilton has been the top trending hashtag on Twitter for several days. The call to boycott the Broadway play is stemming from the ambush of Vice President-elect Mike Pence by cast members upon conclusion of their performance.

When Trump’s VP entered the Richard Rodgers theater to take-in a performance of Hamilton, he was greeted with booing from the audience members. No doubt these were Hillary supporters, still overly emotional after her loss.

After the performance, actor Brandon Victor Dixon directly addressed Pence as he was preparing to leave. This is the collective message of the cast members that was read by Dixon:

“Vice President-elect Pence, welcome. Thank you for joining us at Hamilton: An American Musical. We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. But we hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values, and work on behalf of ALL of us.”

First, it is not the message Trump supporters are objecting to. They are objecting to the time, place, and manner in which it was delivered.

Based on the content of the message, it should have been presented in a more appropriate manner (i.e., letter, email, blog post) and directed to the federal government, not aimed directly at Pence.

In addition, the cast opted to use a mob mentality to ambush Pence who, like other audience members, was there to be entertained. He was neither expecting nor prepared to debate politics.

Second, there is a question about the legitimacy of the message. It would seem that dissent is once again a popular notion since Trump’s victory. Obama’s critics have been silenced on more than one occasion. Trump and his supporters are being labeled as racists and misogynists for wanting their best interests to be protected.

They spoke about diversity and inalienable rights. Considering they are diverse cast performing in a successful play, in New York City, there would not seem to be an issue. What sense does it make to argue about something you have not been denied, while doing what you have been given the freedom and opportunity to do? That is the hallmark sign of liberal logic.

Hello Pot? This is Kettle.

It would also seem that Brandon Dixon has no room to question Donald Trump or Mike Pence’s character. According to Allen West, tweets have surfaced that prove Dixon is quite the “performer”. The tweets, pictured below, were very disrespectful to women, much like they have accused Trump of being. It seems Dixon is willfully ignorant of the hypocrisy that he is exhibiting when he sanctimoniously chastises Donald Trump. Publicity stunt?

There is simply no end to the left’s madness. For Trump supporters, dissent is morally questionable. For Hillary supporters it has become a moral obligation. They are legends in their own minds. Minds that are clearly void of reason and accountability.
