When a couple can stay together for a long time, it’s a beautiful thing. Ask any married person and they’ll tell you it’s not always pretty. Arguments happen, sometimes money is tight, couples disagree and go through rough patches. But what matters is how a couple bounces back from those times; what matters is how you get through those times.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about “42 percent of marriages that took place between ages 15 and 46 ended in divorce by age 46.” And surely, stardom offers a whole new set of problems that “regular joes” don’t experience. So in the defense of marriage, here are 10 country music stars who have made their marriages work for at least 10 years.

TIM MCGRAW & FAITH HILL: 20 YEARS

Believe it or not, these two have not been apart from each other for more than three consecutive days in 20 years of marriage. That’s love, y’all.

“Our marriage is the most important thing to us,” McGraw told Redbook. “We respect what we have and understand how we need to feed it.”

KEITH URBAN & NICOLE KIDMAN: 10 YEARS

The Aussie and the actor joined together in holy matrimony in 2006. Four months later, Urban checked into rehab for alcohol addiction, and Kidman stood right there beside him.

“To see that kind of love … that’s very moving and deeply inspiring,” Urban said about his wife. The couple now has two children, Sunday and Faith.

GARTH BROOKS & TRISHA YEARWOOD: 11 YEARS

Despite proposing to Yearwood in front of about 7,000 fans, the Brooks-Yearwood group live a somewhat private life. They live in a small town in Oklahoma close to his three daughters from his first marriage. And they celebrate the anniversary of the 2005 wedding as a whole family.

“We married the girls,” Yearwood says.

BRAD PAISLEY & KIMBERLY WILLIAMS: 13 YEARS

Humor: one very crucial part of marriage. This is shown in Paisley and Williams’ long marriage, which happened at a surprise wedding (guests thought it was the rehearsal).

“Making each other laugh creates a bond,” Paisley said.

NATALIE MAINES & ADRIAN PASDAR: 16 YEARS

Since 2000, Dixie Chicks’ Maines and Pasdar have been devoted to each other, seeming to be living a completely “average” lifestyle.

“You have to deal with the same things [as other families],” Pasdar said. “Like raising two children, getting them to school on time, homework and dinner.”

VINCE GILL & AMY GRANT: 16 YEARS

Though both have been married before, they’re hoping this one sticks. Between the two of them, they have a full house with five kids.

Gill said he and Grant’s compatibility “is really pretty amazing. Just the way we balance each other.”

DARIUS RUCKER & BETH LEONARD: 16 YEARS

Rucker and Leonard, marriage veterans, know that marriage is not just about that lovin’ feeling.

“Marriage is not easy,” Rucker told The Boot. “You have to decide to work. That’s what it really comes down to, two people deciding to stay together or not.”

“[I work] hard to let my wife know how much I love her,” he continued. “I try to do that every day.”
