There are no rumors of Shiny Pokémon being planned for Pokémon GO yet. However, you do know that not all Pokémon spawn equally, especially since most of us have an army of Pidgeys and Rattatas in our inventory at the moment, right? What we want to tell you today is yes, that Pidgeot you caught might be rarebit. There are way more rare Pokemon in Pokémon GO and they all have very low chances to spawn for you. Here are the 10 Rarest Pokémon in Pokémon GO:

10. Omastar

rarest-pokemon-omastar

Lord Helix’s evolution is the 10th rarest Pokémon with a spawn chance of 0.000061%. A solid Rock/Water Pokémon,  Omastar’s most glaring flaw is its double-weakness to  grass types. But it makes up for its weakness by being doubly resistant to fire attacks.

9. Lapras

lapras

Our favorite water ferrying Pokémon has a 0.00006%, only 0.000001% lower than Omastar. While being an Ice/Water type gives it access to dragon-slaying Ice moves but making Lapras not resistant to Fire-type moves.

8. Victreebell

rarest-pokemon-bellsprout

Bellsprout’s final evolution boasts a spawn rate of 0.000059%, the same difference to Lapras as Lapras has to Omastar. Grass/Poison typings are very common in generation 1 and it doesn’t do Victreebell a lot of favors, making it weak to Psychic and especially removing Grass’ resistance to Ground.

7. Golem

rarest-pokemon-golem

Golem is Geodude’s final evolution, after Graveler, it has a 0.000047% chance of spawning in Pokémon GO. In the main Pokémon games, Golem is one of the 4 generation 1 Pokémon to evolve by trading. And it’s the only one of the 4 Pokémon to evolve that way that doesn’t have an NPC trainer in the Red and Blue versions to carry it (Agatha has Gengar, Bruno carries a Machamp while Sabrina has Alakazam).

6. Kabutops

rarest-pokemon-kabutops

The other fossil Pokémon is a lot rarer than Omastar at a  miniscule rate of 0.000032%. They share the same Rock/Water typing with Omastar but Kabutops are a bit more fragile and hit harder than Omastars.

5. Gyarados

 rarest-pokemon-gyarados

With a 0.000032% chance of spawning, I honestly don’t know if it’s easier to get a Gyarados to spawn or collect 400 Magikarp candies to evolve a Magikarp into one. While offensively, Gyarados are powerful Pokémon, they suffer a double weakness to Electric attacks with their Water/Flying type. And yes, Gyarados is a Water/Flying  Pokémon not a Dragon-type.

4. Mime

rarest-pokemon-mr-mime

Mr. Mimes used to be purely Psychic Pokémon back in generation 1 games, but with Pokémon GO being up-to-date with their typings, Mr. Mime is currently a Psychic/Fairy type. At a 0.0031% spawn chance with a Fairy typing, Mr. Mime should be a Dragon-killer but sadly, Pokémon GO’s Mr. Mimes are very weak especially when considering how rare they are.

3. Muk

rarest-pokemon-muk

Wow, the world isn’t as polluted as I thought it would be since Muk only has a 0.000031% chance of spawning. Muk is a very bulky but slow Pokémon, and it’s Poison type leaves it  with very few offensive options, even in Pokémon GO.

2. Charizard

rarest-pokemon-charizard

Undoubtedly the most famous fully-evolved starter Pokémon, Charizard taunts us with its 0.000031% spawn rate. With its (not Dragon) Fire/Flying typing, it’s the most offensively oriented of the 3 fully evolved starters.

1. Dragonite

rarest-pokemon-dragonite

Dragonite’s cute and goofy look fools a lot of people on how powerful it is. With a spawn rate of 0.000011%, Dragonite is currently the most rare Pokémon in Pokémon GO . Well, it should be, considering it was the hardest generation 1 Pokémon to fully evolve needing it to be level 55 to evolve from Dragonair.

Unobtainable Pokémon

We have no way of obtaining Legendaries in Pokémon GO as of the time of this writing. Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo and Mew all have a spawn rate of 0 flat. Curiously, Ditto also has a spawn rate of 0 and has only been confirmed to be hatched from an egg once.
