Complaints From Season 7 TWD

There were lots of fan complaints from Season 7 of The Walking Dead. One major problem started in the very beginning of the Season 7 premiere when Negan killed Abraham and then Glenn with his bat, Lucille.

For the fans who didn’t leave, many were then disappointed at how the show followed individual characters in episodes and didn’t show enough of the main characters. The main culprit here was “Swear,” which followed Heath and Tara.

Now, the creators of the show want to focus on showing more of an ensemble rather than individual stories.

Scott Gimple Discusses Season 8 TWD

Showrunner Scott Gimple addressed the issue as such: “Because of the narrative that we’re following … the story this season is really spread out among all of the characters. And the story shifts quite a bit in single episodes between lots of different characters on a consistent basis, which is a little more unusual for the show.”

Basically, the show is still doing their own thing when it comes to writing the series, but now those needs are matching the needs of the viewers. As long as we get to see more of Rick, Carol, and Daryl, however, we’re not complaining.

Based on the trailer, it also looks like everyone has their own job to do in Season 8, so characters like Carol or Morgan shouldn’t feel as lost.

Chasing A Common Goal, Together

Last season, the characters were all really out of place. Negan had Rick under his thumb and it got so bad that Rick was actually volunteering over items such as Michonne’s deer, even though Negan did not know about the deer or her rifle.

Now, since there is a common goal in mind (murdering Negan and those who follow him), it looks like everyone has more of a role to play. Daryl gathers walkers, Carol and Tara stand lookout, and Rick takes a group to the Sanctuary.

This ensemble type of shooting is going to allow for fans to see more of their favorite characters every episode.
